Knepp Cinnibar Moth Tea Towel

£12.00

Often villainized as a killer of livestock due to its poisonous properties,* common ragwort is an unsung hero of rewilding. As one of the most sustaining hosts to insects we have in Britain, seven species of beetle, twelve species of flies, seven micromoths and one macromoth, the Cinnabar, feed exclusively on common ragwort. It is a major source of nectar for at least thirty species of solitary bee, eighteen species of solitary wasp and fifty insect parasites. In all, 177 species of insect use common ragwort as a source of nectar or pollen.

*despite grazing amongst ragwort we have had no livestock deaths.
